As a child little Crabby enjoyed many memorable summer vacations on the beautiful Oregon coast and remembers nearly weeping when her dad tried to explain that they didn’t have room in the car for the huge collection of shells she had gathered. Being the kind and compassionate man that he was, he relented; Little Crabby lugged home a cardboard box stuffed full of assorted shells painstaking packed in layer upon layer of newspaper. He even let her keep those that were less-than-perfect, knowing how she cherished each one. Her favorites were the sand dollars.
So now, decades later, making these sand dollar pillows brings that sweet experience to mind, along with a tear to her eye. These are painted one at a time on indoor-outdoor acrylic fabric using a warm gray nontoxic textile paint, then stuffed with polyester fiberfill. They measure 18″ across and are about 4″ thick in the center. Yes, they fly like a frisbee, but they also prop up your book, hold your laptop, or just sit there lookin’ good!
If soiled, just spot clean or handwash in cool water, and air dry. Designed, painted, sewn, stuffed, copyrighted and signed by the artist on a beautiful island in Washington State
